David Smith is an Australian sprint canoeist.
At 22 years old, he won a silver medal in the K-2 1000m event at the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Dartmouth.
He also won a silver at the 2011 ICF World Championships in Szeged, Hungary in the K-4 1000m, and then a bronze in the same event in 2013.
David competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and was a member of the Gold Medal-winning Australian Kayak Four (K4) 1000m team in the 2012 London Olympics.
David received the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2014 Australia Day Honours List, being acknowledged for service to sport.
