Harry Goodwin spent his life researching Inorganic Chemistry at universities in Australia, America and Germany.
He was a world authority in his field and made a great contribution to science.
In 1956 Harry obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Sydney, going on to complete a PhD in 1960 for ‘Stereochemistry and Substitution Reactions of Metal Complexes’.
He began lecturing at UNSW in 1960, eventually appointed Associate Professor, and continuing his research until he retired in 1995.
Those close to Harry remember him as a humble man of great integrity, who was a very good supervisor of students and a calming influence on the people around him.
