Artist of the Month

Throughout the month of February, the works of local artist, Joe Marziano, will be displayed at the Shellharbour Civic Centre as part of our reoccurring exhibition, 'Artist of the Month'.

Artist Statement

“Art is a subconscious glimpse through the window to one’s true self”

Whilst Joe is comfortable with mediums such as watercolours, acrylics or charcoal, it’s pastels that, thus far, have fuelled of his passion. He is primarily self-taught and has come to use pastels as a “dry” paint rather than a drawing medium; mixing the colours on the paper by blending, fixing and layering.

With a chance meeting of local artist George Harle and the offer of tuition and guidance, oils have become the new obsession.
A large number of his early works feature Australian Native Birds in their natural habitat, however, later works provoke a closer look to reveal a deeper meaning.
